People are often asking us questions about the process to our little ones
but more importantly, they are asking us where WE are IN the process.
I thought that I would bring everyone up to speed on exactly ( or not so exactly) where we
are in the process to bringing Chloe and Eli home!
We have gotten all of our documents ( dossier) to the Democratic Republic of Congo!
They have either been translated or are being translated..that we are not certain of.
We have passed our Judgement Suppletif date and the 30 waiting period. We were so excited about that! We found out about it after the 30 day waiting period so we didn't have to stress or anything!!
It was already completed and we were ready to move on to the next step in Congo.
So, now we are waiting to hear when we pass Court 1!
There is another mandatory 30 day waiting period after this first court date...SO, we are hoping to hear soon that we have passed. Its been several weeks now since we passed JS so we are assuming that our court date is not too far behind. Whatever too far behind means in adoption world :)
On the Smalley side of things, we have submitted our I600a and are going to have our biometric fingerprints done in Atlanta on July 11th. So, at least we get a road trip out of all of it :) We will then receive a I-171-HIJKLMNOP...haha...another document that will approve us to adopt internationally. So, we will be doing that and then for this phase we will be done stateside until it is time to file our I600.
So, it looks like we are waiting on Congo at this point but also tying up a few things here in the States. Please pray for our continued peace this week in the waiting for news. Checking the email every two seconds is not productive. It can also make you a little crazy :)
PLEASE know that we appreciate your prayers more than you know!
It continues to encourage us as we move forward in this journey to our children.
We are confident that God has called us to this and even though we do not know the answers, timeline or end result, we trust in faith and ask the Lord to continue to strengthen us
James 1:6 But let
him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a
wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
